What I used to do to find clients...
- Trade shows
- Automated prospecting on LinkedIn
- Cold calling
- Email marketing campaigns
It was costly, intrusive, and had a low conversion rate. But now... things have changed significantly.
Because now it's the clients who come to us!
How? Thanks to a marketing strategy that really works: SEO.
What is SEO?
SEO is a strategy aimed at achieving a good ranking or "natural positioning" on search engines. In simple terms, you want to be listed at the top of the first page of Google search results, or very close to it, when someone searches for your services and/or products.
For example, I’m a plumber in Paris. I have a good SEO position if when I type "Plumber Paris" into Google, my website appears in the top three results on the first page.
⚠️ It is important not to confuse this with "ads" positions. Ads are paid placements, a service offered by Google.
What I 💛 about SEO
It’s a sustainable source of traffic acquisition, viable in the short, medium, and long term, with an excellent ROI. Additionally, it’s a non-intrusive acquisition method that eases the downstream sales process. In short, my investment offers a fantastic time/business impact ratio. Unlike paid ads, which have a limited lifespan (due to budget), my SEO content is everlasting. (As long as it's up to date)
With a background in sales (formal education), I learned how to do cold calling, prospecting, face-to-face outreach, etc... but SEO has forever changed my perspective on client acquisition.
⚠️ Caution: To have an effective SEO strategy, it’s essential to have a website that meets best technical practices. Check out our offer for a SEO-optimized website.
Is it an effective strategy only in the long term?
People often say that SEO is beneficial... but only in the long term. False, false, and false!
You can achieve quick wins in natural search ranking. In just 2 months, you can position your company’s website on strategic keywords, provided the competition is low. Otherwise, generally speaking, you will see results within 3 to 6 months (if you put in the effort!).
Example of SEO results over a year for the site Digidop.fr (a site starting from scratch, new domain name, without content, etc...)
How to analyze the SEO results of my site
There are many tools available to identify the keywords that drive traffic to your website. Here are three that you can use:
If I had to choose just one, it would be this one ❤️: Google Search Console. Google Search Console is a free tool provided by Google. Learn more about this tool in this video!
The benefit of these tools is that, in addition to analyzing your visibility, they provide technical recommendations for optimizing your SEO. And technique is a lever for improving your SEO.
