Key points

Webflow is a modern alternative to WordPress that enables the creation of websites without coding. Therefore, I can be considered a no-code web developer.

Today, I will share with you my technical setup, the computers and accessories I use as a Webflow developer. In fact, I have two setups:

  1. 100% agile, my digital nomad setup (Digidop is a company born fully remote)
  2. Fixed setup, a version for the office

The Webflow Developer Kit (Digital Nomad)

Digidop is a post-Covid-19 company that started completely remote. We didn't have an office the first year, and it wasn't a problem at all. With no-code tools, a good setup, and a Wi-Fi connection (or tethering, depending on the location 😂), we can work anywhere in the world.

My first configuration is therefore a portable setup, tailored to the "digital nomad" lifestyle.

1 - MacBook Pro 14'

This is a Ferrari. No more, no less. A machine that combines beautiful design with power.

2 - Magic Trackpad 2

I love using the Magic Trackpad to navigate between my tabs or in Figma mockups.

3 - Laptop Stand

This stand from the "Besign" brand is practical, sturdy, and affordable. It allows for an elevated position, which is more comfortable when you’re sitting with your laptop somewhere.

The Web Developer Kit (Fixed Version 🖥)

A little over a year after launching our agency, we secured our first office space. We have thus invested in a fixed setup. It also serves as a technical "backup" in case of a failure with our mobile equipment.

1 - Apple iMac 24'

A beautiful, large screen with 16GB RAM and two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports + Two USB 3 ports.

2 - Herman Miller Sayl Chair

A chair as beautiful as it is comfortable.

A little bonus, choose the lumbar support option.

3- Sit/Stand Desk - TROTTENT

Architect desks allow you to sit or stand while working. With a handle, a mechanism raises and lowers the desktop. This allows you to switch between sitting and standing throughout the day.

I use the TROTTENT desk from Ikea, which offers good quality at an affordable price.

4 - Shure MV7X Microphone

This microphone is perfect for:

  • Recording tutorials for your YouTube channel
  • Recording loom videos for clients upon project delivery

5 - Second Screen

The second screen is a real comfort for web developers. With it, you can have, for example, the Figma mockup open while using Webflow on your other screen to develop pages in the designer. This way, you have everything you need at a glance, without having to switch windows.

For the second screen, we chose the Huawei 24' AD80HW PC monitor. The graphic resolution isn’t great, but the screen is affordable.

6 - Magic Trackpad 2

No more need for a mouse. No more double scrolling on the pad.

What is the price of a good setup for Webflow development?

You guessed it, having a good setup comes at a cost.

(1) The mobile developer kit cost me an investment of: €2413.99.

  • MacBook Pro 14 inches: €2,249.00
  • Magic Trackpad: €135.00
  • Laptop Stand: €29.99

(2) The web developer kit to set up at a desk is an investment of: €3467.99.

  • Apple iMac 24': €1,899.00
  • Herman Miller Sayl Chair: €750.00
  • TROTTENT Desk: €239.00
  • Shure MV7X Microphone: €285.00
  • Huawei 24' PC Monitor: €159.99
  • Magic Trackpad: €135.00

This amount represents a significant investment. Having high-performance equipment is essential if you want to become a "No-Code" creator or a Webflow developer.

Why?

Having a powerful computer will allow you to work much faster and therefore complete much more projects... And generally, you will be paid by the hour or for each project.
