Figma continues to accelerate the release of new features, updates to existing modules, and developments in partnerships.

Let's take a look at the new Figma features for June 2022.

3 Figma plugins to test at the end of the article!

Integration of Widgets into Figma!

Already present in FigJam since the Config updates, now Figma files can host widgets! The integration of widgets into Figma brings dozens of additional features that will enhance collaboration, facilitate asynchronous work, connect your tools, and integrate workflows directly from your designs.

Widgets are interactive tools that can be easily dragged and dropped onto the Figma canvas. Unlike plugins, which are generally used individually for specific needs, widgets have the advantage of being collaborative. You, your team, and anyone working on the file can use them to evolve the mockup in real-time.

Here are some cool widgets we've tested that might be useful for you!

Figma Widget: Voice Memo

Leave voice messages directly on the canvas. Perfect for providing feedback and working asynchronously!

Try Voice Memo

Figma Widget: Approve

Say goodbye to green, red, and orange dots on mockups! Approve is a simple button with two statuses: "Revision" and "Approved." Place this button next to a section or a mockup for approval from your team or client. A simple click on the button allows you to toggle between statuses. Other widgets also offer similar functionality, such as RAG Status, Checkbox, and Status.

Try Approve

Figma Widget: Notion Ticket

Connect Notion to Figma with the Notion Ticket plugin! You can easily add new Notion cards to your mockup, integrate a description, assign a person, and indicate the status. This widget will make life easier for many Notion users!

Try Notion Ticket

Figma Widget: Simple Vote

Struggling to reach a consensus or gather all feedback at the same time? Simply allow your teams to vote to make decisions. The Simple Vote plugin is a button that you can place next to different designs. Just click it to cast your vote.

Try Simple Vote

Figma Widget: Asana

Following the same principle as the Notion Ticket, the Asana plugin allows you to directly connect the tool to your Figma files. Simplified features let you live-update your Asana projects directly from your mockups: create a new task, set a deadline, tag people, manage projects, etc.

Try Asana

Integration of Components, Widgets, and Plugins into the Toolbar

No longer will you need to search for your plugins by right-clicking or going through all the plugins to install new ones! Figma has almost resolved an accessibility issue with this new feature. Now, you can find all your plugins, widgets, and components from the toolbar. A new button has been added to simplify access to these features.

  • For Plugins: install and launch plugins in just two clicks
  • For Widgets: integrate any widget by simply dragging and dropping
  • For Components: drag and drop any component from your files
